A Day in the Life of an Affiliate Manager

Hey there! I’m Shannon, the affiliate manager at Revit Digital. If you’re here, you’re probably curious about what it’s like to be an affiliate manager. While there’s really no typical day in this role—each one brings its own unique challenges—let me take you through a pretty standard Monday. It’s all about juggling tasks, building relationships, and keeping the wheels turning!

8 AM – Morning Kickoff

I kick off my day by diving into my emails, which can be a bit of a rollercoaster. Some mornings I find just a few waiting for me, while other days, it’s hundreds! I see everything from potential affiliates eager to learn about our programs to current affiliates needing tech support or product requests. Oh, and I’m also negotiating a few holiday gift guide deals. It’s a lively start, to say the least!

9 AM – Reporting

By 9 AM, it’s time for reporting. Being Monday, I log into my affiliate dashboards to pull essential data for my spreadsheets. I focus on metrics like new affiliates who’ve joined, traffic generated, conversions, and revenue. It’s crucial to spot any anomalies that might need addressing, so I keep a sharp eye on the numbers.

10 AM – Partner Research

As the clock strikes 10, I dive into partner research. This is one of my favorite parts of the job. I dedicate this time to uncovering potential new partners, especially for established programs. Today, I’m on the hunt for “look-alike” audiences related to some successful micro Instagram influencers in our network. I scroll through their followers, identifying accounts with similar engagement rates and gathering contact info for outreach. It’s a bit like detective work, and I love the thrill of discovery.

11AM- Partner Calls

At 11 AM, I have two calls lined up with potential partners. I always start these conversations by asking questions about their goals and past successes with other brands. This helps me tailor our pitch and create a genuine connection. Once I gather their insights, I share what we can offer through our affiliate program. It’s all about building those relationships!

12 PM – Lunch Break

After a busy morning, I take a well-deserved lunch break. This is my time to recharge. I step away from my screen, grab a quick bite, and reflect on the day so far.

1 PM – Deck Preparation

Refreshed and ready to go, I return to my desk around 1 PM to prepare decks for upcoming client meetings. I typically meet with clients weekly, so I make sure to update them on performance metrics and gather approvals on budget spending, gifting, and commission increases. I also include some creative optimization options to discuss with them. It’s all about keeping the lines of communication open and ensuring everyone is on the same page.

3 PM – New Product Launch Prep

As the afternoon rolls in, I turn my attention to a new product launch for one of our clients. I’m excited to generate a newsletter announcing this to all our affiliates. I select a few top performers to receive the product early and create a cheat sheet with all the important details for them. It’s always thrilling to introduce new products to our network!

4 PM – Affiliate Engagement

Around 4 PM, I focus on affiliate engagement. I take time to interact with our affiliates on social media, liking and commenting on their posts. Building strong relationships is crucial, and this personal touch helps keep our affiliates motivated and connected. I also reach out to some top-performing affiliates to gather feedback on their experience with our program, which is invaluable for future improvements.

5 PM- Final Email Check

At 5PM, I check my emails one last time. I respond to any lingering partner requests, making sure to address any pressing communications. It’s important to tie up loose ends before signing off for the day.

6 PM – Reflect and Plan Ahead

As my day wraps up, I take a moment to reflect on what I accomplished and what tomorrow will bring. I jot down critical tasks that need attention and review my schedule to ensure I’m prepared for what’s coming next.

Conclusion

Being an affiliate manager is not just a job; it’s a passion. Every day is different, filled with challenges and opportunities to connect with amazing partners. I love helping brands grow through these collaborations, and I hope this glimpse into my daily routine has given you a better understanding of the role.
